Siddhartha Gautama the Buddha
Siddhartha Gautama was born circa, 563 B.C. He was a wealthy prince who lived in a small kingdom in the Himalayas in what is now modern day Nepal.Siddhartha Gautama had a wife and a son. He was also known as the Buddha. He developed the region of Buddhism. The Buddha believed in The Four Nobel Truths and The Eight Fold Path.Siddhartha Gautama wanted to explore life outside his kingdom. He traveled to explore ordinary life, but he was shocked to find a world of suffering and poverty. He traveled to India to find the true meaning of life. He would stop to meditate or think deeply, he spoke his true message of finding true happiness. As he would speak he would gain followers. His preaching’s began to be known as Buddhism.In his search for wisdom, Siddhartha Gautama lived a simple life. He lived away from people and slept on the floor. To clear his mind he would stop eating at times. he died circa 486 B.C.

Chandragupta Mauryan
Chandragupta Mauryan was the first ruler of the Mauryan dynasty. He lived in the Mauryan empire in India. He started a government in his city Pataliputra. One of his major achievements was a well ran postal system. The system improved communications throughout his empire. Chandragupta had a powerful army. He used spies to report any disloyalty upon his subjects. He was a strong ruler but was very cautious. He was afraid of his food being poisoned, so he would use his servants to taste his food for him. He was afraid of being attacked so he would never sleep in the same bed two nights in a row. Chandragupta lived circa 340 B.C. and died 298 B.C. (age 42).We study Chandragupta because of his military and government achievements.

Hammurabi
Hammurabi lived in Babylon. Hammurabi was born circa 1796 B.C – 1750 B.C. He was the first dynasty king of the city-state Babylon and inherited the power from his father, Sin-Muballit. He was the sixth king of Babylon. Babylon was one of the many ancient city- states that bordered the Mesopotamian plane and waged war on each other for control of fertile agricultural land. The king, who came before Hammurabi, had come to bring business to central Mesopotamia. By the time of his reign he had conquered the city-states of Borsippa, Kish and Sippar. As Hammurabi moved up to the throne of the king of the minor kingdom in the central of a complex geopolitical situation. The first few decades of Hammurabi’s reign were Peaceful. He used his power to undertake a series of public works, including making the walls higher around the city for defensive reasons and expanding the temples. We study Hammurabi because of Hammurabi’s code and his military and government accomplishments.

Nebuchadnezzar was born circa, 634 B.C. He was the king of the neo-Babylonia Empire, who reigned circa 605 B.C. – circa 562 B.C According to the bible, he conquered Judah, and Jerusalem and sent the Jewish into Babylon. He credited with the construction of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and for the destruction of the first temple. He is included in the book Daniel and is mentioned and several other books of the bible.
